Rep. Cole Hefner, a Republican representing Texas’s 5th House district since 2017, has used social media to address ongoing partisan tensions in the Texas House and highlight his legislative achievements.

On August 13, 2025, Hefner commented on the state of legislative proceedings and party participation: “I spoke with KLTV about why Republicans are here, ready to work, while Democrats cowardly shirk their duties in the Texas House. Everything is being done under the rules and the law to bring them back so we can tackle the important business Texans sent us here to do.”

Later that day, Hefner continued his remarks regarding Democratic lawmakers: “Did I mention that House Republicans won’t quit? We’re here and we’re not stopping. The Democrats can try to run but eventually they must return, and the outcome is inevitable. The question is: how long do they want to waste our state’s resources and tax dollars, while neglecting” (August 13, 2025).

In a separate post on August 15, 2025, Hefner shared news of an award related to broadband expansion efforts: “I am honored to be named Legislator of the Year by Connect the Future Texas for my work to support broadband access across our state.

Reliable internet is no longer a luxury — it’s a lifeline for education, healthcare, jobs, and keeping communities connected. I’m proud to have”

Hefner has served in the Texas State House since 2017 after succeeding Bryan Hughes as representative for District 5. His recent comments come amid heightened debate over attendance and participation in legislative sessions within the chamber.
