Rep. Cole Hefner, a Republican member of the Texas State House representing the 5th district since 2017, has recently shared updates on his legislative activities and opinions through social media posts.

On August 2, 2025, Hefner posted about his involvement in advancing redistricting legislation as part of the House Select Committee on Congressional Redistricting. He stated: “Today, as a member of the House Select Committee on Congressional Redistricting, I helped move HB 4 — the #BigBeautifulMap — forward in the legislative process. HB 4 provides an opportunity for five more Republican congressional seats in Texas. Proud to be a part of this effort!”

The following day, August 3, he highlighted recognition from a state organization and discussed his legislative work regarding firearm laws: “Proud to receive the “Snorting Bull Freedom Fighter Award” from the Texas State Rifle Association! As Chairman of the House Committee on Homeland Security, Public Safety, and Veterans Affairs, I was honored to sponsor SB 1362 — Texas’ new anti-red flag law — and continue my”

Later that same day, Hefner commented on political developments involving opposition lawmakers: “It’s simple: Texas Democrats have fled the state because they know they’re losing the policy argument. Hopping on a private plane to Chicago won’t change the facts — they are abandoning their districts and turning their backs on Texans who need help the most. Flood recovery.”

Hefner succeeded Bryan Hughes in representing Texas’ 5th House district after being elected in 2017.
