Congressman Nathaniel Moran, who represents Texas’ 1st Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives, delivered remarks on the House Floor honoring Charlie Kirk. Moran described Kirk as “a faithful servant, not only to the cause of liberty, but more importantly to the Kingdom of God,” and praised his influence in encouraging respectful political dialogue and defending American values.

Moran noted that Kirk often spoke about his faith and mission to guide others toward Christianity. “His voice was strong in the public square, and he inspired his generation and so many more to embrace and defend the concepts of freedom and American exceptionalism through respectful political dialogue and engagement. He spoke often about his faith and his personal mission to direct people to Jesus Christ, our Savior, and our only hope through His truth,” said Moran.

During his speech, Congressman Moran also offered condolences for Kirk’s wife Erika and their children. He called for comfort for Kirk’s family during their time of loss. The congressman also addressed political violence, urging Americans to remember shared values beyond politics: “Political violence has no place in America. We are all, first and foremost, children of God and citizens of one nation under Him. Before we are Democrats or Republicans, we are Americans, neighbors called to love one another.”

Moran highlighted Kirk’s approach to debate: “Charlie treated others with dignity and respect, even in the midst of tough debates,” Moran added. “He did so from a heart of love, not one of hate. We should follow his example as we engage in our debates moving forward.”

Nathaniel Moran began serving as representative for Texas’ 1st district in 2023 after replacing Louie Gohmert (https://ballotpedia.org/Nathaniel_Moran). He won election against Jrmar Jefferson in 2022 by a wide margin (https://www.texastribune.org/2022/11/08/texas-election-results-us-house-district-1).

In closing his remarks on Charlie Kirk’s legacy, Congressman Moran stated: “May Charlie’s witness inspire us to walk humbly, to speak truth boldly, and to fix our eyes upon the eternal promises of God. And may the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with Erika, their family, and all who mourn his passing.”
