Rep. Cole Hefner, a Texas state legislator, recently took to social media to share his views and legislative actions on several key issues affecting Texans. Through a series of tweets, Hefner addressed topics ranging from bail reform to property tax exemptions.

On May 20, 2025, Rep. Hefner expressed his support for a significant bail reform package in Texas. He stated that “Texans deserve to feel safe in their communities — but for too long, soft-on-crime policies and activist judges have allowed violent offenders to walk free while awaiting trial. That ends now.” He emphasized the importance of this legislation as one of the strongest measures taken by the state.

Later that day, Hefner tweeted about his stance against the Marvin Nichols Reservoir project alongside Rep. Gary VanDeaver. He wrote, “Today I proudly stood with Rep. Gary VanDeaver in support of his amendment to S.B. 1261 to stop the Marvin Nichols Reservoir.” He further elaborated on the need to protect East Texans’ land from being used for urban water projects by stating, “We’re not going to give up our land so people can keep their swimming pools.”

On May 21, 2025, Hefner addressed concerns regarding high property taxes in Texas. In his tweet, he announced legislative efforts aimed at providing relief through increased homestead exemptions: “Texans are tired of high property taxes, and we’re doing something about it! The Texas House passed SB 4 and SB 23 to raise the homestead exemption to $140,000 and increase the exemption for seniors and disabled Texans to $200,000.” He highlighted his role as a co-author of these bills designed to offer financial relief.
