DAINGERFIELD-LONE STAR ISD: Updated Information Regarding Coronavirus and the D-LS ISD

Addy

Daingerfield-Lone Star ISD issued the following announcement on March 19.

Governor Abbott has officially closed all public schools in Texas through April 3.

This closure will include all school related activities.

As of now, classes will resume on April 6, 2020!

At this time, we are not sure what will take place after that.  There could be an extended closure.  During this closure we will continue to remain in constant contact with TEA, as well as monitor information from the CDC, DSHS, State of Texas and U.S. Government.

In order to continue our students’ education on some level, we are putting this plan in place:

STUDENTS’ WORK

Parents, please plan on picking up a packet of work for your child on Sunday afternoon (March 22) from 3:00-5:00 at your child’s school.  Locations for pick-ups:  West Elementary—Bus Lane by cafeteria; South Elementary—Bus Lane on the playground; Junior High—Bus lane at the back of the building; High School—Bus lane between the main building and the Jesse Hanson Gym.  If for some reason, you cannot come on Sunday afternoon, you may pick up this work on Monday from 10:30-1:00 at the same locations.  Please plan on remaining in your car.  Students should complete the work and bring it back to school when we return.

STUDENTS’ LUNCHES

In addition beginning Monday, March 23, we will provide student lunches.  The pick-up time will be 10:30-1:00 Monday through Friday until we return to regular classes.  The pick-up locations will be:  West Elementary—Bus lane by cafeteria; South Elementary—Bus lane on the playground; Junior High—Bus lane at the back of the building; High School—Bus lane between the main building and the Jesse Hanson Gym.

Beginning Tuesday, March 24, there will also be a bus in the parking lot of Crump’s/Dollar Tree during this time to pick up lunches.  You DO NOT have to go to your child’s school.  Any student’s lunch may be picked up at any of these locations.  Depending on the response for those picking up lunches, the locations could be changed for the next week, but in this case, you will be notified.  Again, please plan on remaining in your car.

Parents, thank you for your patience and support during this time.  We are forging a new type of partnership, and it is going to require us working together like we never have before.

Students, please know that we are thinking about you and working hard to do what is best.  We know many of you are disappointed that events have been postponed and your life interrupted.  But know - this too shall pass.

Thank you to our amazing staff who have been working around the clock to get everything organized and will continue to do so!

Stay positive and have faith!  Show your TIGER PRIDE!
