The Lamar County Chamber of Commerce has launched a COVID-10 Support Program, which is designed to help small businesses in the area suffering from impacts of the coronavirus pandemic.

A survey from the program states there's limited funding for local businesses and applications will wrap up on July 31. If additional funding becomes available, the county will extend the program. The program now has a total of $25,000 to support small businesses in Lamar County.

Small businesses affected by the pandemic can apply, but the program is giving priority to those that have been force to close, lay off employees, or limit their operations due to the coronavirus. Businesses will also be required to be in good standing with the Chamber.

To apply for funding, a business will have to estimate the amount it pays in utilities and demonstrate how the business has been affected.

If a business is awarded funding, it can be used on rent and utility bills. The program will be awarding a maximum amount of $1,000 per business within a 45-day period. Once the 45 days have passed, the business can reapply for more funding.
