City of Mt. Pleasant issued the following announcement.
HERE TO SERVE OUR GREAT COMMUNITY
This morning the Titus County Emergency Management team conducted its 116th conference call relating to COVID-19 and its impact on our community. While we all feel discouragement regarding the length and outlook of this global pandemic, I want you to know that we continue to work together to do our part to slow down the spread of the virus in our community, and I encourage you to do the same.
CDC findings consistently show that wearing a mask, social distancing and sanitizing are the most effective ways to protect yourself and others from infection.
Let’s also continue to support and encourage our Mount Pleasant/Titus County businesses, educators, healthcare workers and first responders. These valuable members of our community have taken the brunt of the challenges presented by COVID-19 as they serve us, but I could not be more proud of the solutions, innovations and sheer stamina exemplified across the board during the past five months.
At the same time, I can assure you that we are forward-focused at City Hall as our council and staff work on a budget for the Fiscal Year 2020-2021. The wonderful library staff members are finding clever and creative ways to serve our patrons of all ages and life stages. The splash pads at Caldwell Park and Oaklawn Park are providing some cool fun for the kids, and we are excited about the completion of the Mount Pleasant Sports Complex this fall.
Please know that we are here to serve the citizens of this great community. Stay safe, stay healthy and stay connected to the City here on our website, the City’s Facebook page and by watching upcoming Council meetings.
