Rep. Pat Fallon from Texas has led a letter to Sean Curran, congratulating him on his recent appointment as Director of the U.S. Secret Service. Fallon highlighted the significance of Curran's new role and expressed confidence in his ability to lead.
"Congratulations to Sean Curran on being appointed by President Trump to serve as the next director of the U.S. Secret Service," said Rep. Fallon. "Curran's actions are a testament to his dedication to the agency's zero-fail mission."
Fallon referred to an incident where Curran, as the special agent in charge of President Trump's detail at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, showed bravery by protecting Trump during a shooting incident. "As the special agent in charge of President Trump's detail at the July 13 rally in Butler, PA, Curran displayed literal courage under fire by putting himself between Mr. Trump and the shooter," stated Fallon.
The congressman also noted that Curran had requested additional security measures for that event, which were not approved by higher authorities. "Curran also made repeated requests to higher-ups for additional security assets ahead of the July 13 rally that were denied," he added.
Fallon pointed out challenges facing Curran due to what he described as previous leadership failures within the Secret Service. He emphasized that reforms are necessary to prevent past security issues from recurring: "With how things stand at the Secret Service due to the incompetence of its former leadership, Curran has his work cut out for him as he works to put an end to the agency's culture of complacency."
He concluded with optimism about Curran's potential impact: "However, I think I speak for many of us when I say that the nation is counting on him to advance much needed reforms aimed at preventing the stunning security failures we witnessed this past summer."
