Rep. Pat Fallon has taken the lead in addressing concerns about regional security in Eastern Europe by writing a letter to key members of the U.S. administration. The letter, sent on Tuesday, was addressed to Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
The focus of the letter is the proposal to make U.S. military bases in Eastern Europe permanent fixtures. Rep. Fallon expressed his views, stating: "President Trump has made peace through strength a cornerstone of his foreign policy. Prior erosion of U.S. hard power has created power vacuums that Russia and China seek to exploit as a means to undermine the West."
According to Fallon, establishing permanent bases would play a significant role in maintaining regional security and preventing potential conflicts with Russia. "By strengthening our posture in Eastern Europe, we can deter future Russian aggression and stop the next war before it starts," he added.
The initiative also received support from other representatives, including Mike Turner from Ohio's 10th district, Dan Crenshaw from Texas's 2nd district, Jen Kiggans from Virginia's 2nd district, and Claudia Tenney from New York's 24th district.
