Forrest Gregg born in Birthright, Texas on October 18, 1933
Alvis Forrest Gregg was born on October 18, 1933, in Birthright, Texas. He played college football at Southern Methodist University in Dallas. He became an offensive tackle in the NFL, playing 16 seasons. Gregg was known for his time with the Green Bay Packers, winning five NFL championships and two Super Bowls. He ended his playing career with the Dallas Cowboys, winning another Super Bowl. He played in 188 straight games. Gregg was selected to nine Pro Bowls and earned All-NFL honors for eight seasons. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. After playing, he coached in the NFL and CFL. As head coach, he led the Cincinnati Bengals to the Super Bowl in 1981. He also coached at SMU, returning to his college after the program’s suspension. Gregg later worked in football operations. He died on April 12, 2019. He remained connected to Texas through his early life and college years.
