Miller Grove ISD issued the following announcement.

Name: Ground Zero – STEM Camp

Who: Current 6th, 7th & 8th Graders

When: May 26 – 29, 2020 8:30 am – 3:30 pm

Where: Miller Grove High School

Cost: $50.00 (covers materials and lunches)

Application and Entry Fee Due:

March 4, 2020

Informational Meeting Tuesday, February 18, 2020 from 6:30 to 7:30 pm at the Miller Grove High School Library. Dinner will be provided.  (Please sign up for the meeting if you plan to attend)

General Information

Students will make up the ‘professional’ team to solve ‘world wide’ problems stemming from both natural and man-made disasters.

Students will choose their preferred ‘professional’ team to join to solve a myriad of problems that could arise from the given situations.

Time will be specified for research.

Cross Teaming and Whole Team Meetings

Teams will at times work together to solve problems. They will also meet for planning for the long term success of the new society, as well as brainstorming to ensure that all potential problems are being solved.

Teams will present their ideas, solutions and creations to the whole team on Friday afternoon.

Facilitator: Laura Smith – Junior High Math Teacher

Teachers will facilitate and introduce initial problems as well as facilitate and assist throughout the process. Potential solutions will all be student led.
