CITY OF MT. PLEASANT: One Million Lights

Fireworksssss

City of Mt. Pleasant issued the following announcement.

Historic Downtown Mount Pleasant will be a joyous place to visit this holiday season as the City presents Boot & Bells: An Olde West Christmas from November 12 through December 27.

The all-new celebration will feature more than 1 million new Christmas lights adorning the Titus County Courthouse Square and Caldwell Park. There will also be horse drawn carriage rides for just $25, Thursday to Sunday evenings beginning at 6 p.m. Ride reservations must be booked online at www.mpcity.net to avoid waiting lines and ensure social distancing.

The Mount Pleasant City Hall, Public Library and Utilities Billing Office will also offer a festive welcome to citizens and visitors with gorgeous Boot & Bells themed Christmas Trees that have been designed and decorated by local residents,  Brittany Wood and Lauren Kennedy. Additionally, the Downtown merchants are getting into the Boots & Bells spirit with their own decorations and activities.

“Downtown Mount Pleasant is one of our greatest assets, and this year the City has worked hard to make it really shine for Christmas,” said Mayor Tracy Craig, Sr. “It has been a challenging year for everyone due to the pandemic, so we are excited to do our part to help bring joy to the community and increase shopping and dining traffic for our businesses citywide.”

“We are extremely pleased to be able to offer an enhanced city celebration with a unique theme that we can hang our hat on not only this year, but expand upon in the years to come,” added City Manager Ed Thatcher. “Mount Pleasant has the potential to become a Texas Holiday Destination of which our citizens can enjoy and take pride in.”

It all kicks off with a Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony and festivities on November 12 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. The ceremony will be at 6:30 p.m. and feature the Mount Pleasant High School Jazz Band and other performances. The Mount Pleasant High School Strolling Choir will serenade attendees throughout the evening, and there will be treats for all in addition to the great offerings of the Downtown restaurants and shops.

Please wear masks and social distance at this City event.
