The East Texas Council of Governments (ETCOG) is hosting free workshops for entities interested in applying for criminal justice and homeland security funding.

“We help applicants understand what needs to go into their grant applications and what they have to track once they receive funding from the state, so we can successfully bring public safety projects to East Texas,” ETCOG’s Public Safety Director Stephanie Heffner said in a post on the ETCOG website.

The ETGOG website states applicants are required to attend one of the virtual workshops to be eligible for the grant. Grant funds are available to local governments, state agencies, non-profit organizations, independent school districts, colleges and universities. Funding can be used for numerous programs including violence against women justice, juvenile justice and law enforcement terrorism prevention.

The ETCOG Public Safety division will hold three criminal justice workshops and two homeland security workshops in January.
