Lamar County schools enrollment of gifted and talented students is 768 students in the 2020-2021 school year

Test 03

Lamar County schools enrolled 768 students who were identified as being gifted and talented during the 2020-2021 school year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

This is a 1.3% decrease from the previous school year.

Of the 8,316 students enrolled in Lamar County schools, 9.2% of them were considered to be gifted and talented.

Lamar County enrolled the 61st highest number of gifted and talented students among Texas counties.

Education in Texas is often a hot button issue, especially as test scores lag behind other states.

“The problems commonly cited are flaws in the school financing system, relatively low teacher salary, poor test performance by students…dropouts from traditional schools in favor of charter schools…gun violence, and mental health issues,” claimed the Texas Almanac.
