Enrollment at Dekalb ISD schools increased by 5.7% compared to previous school year

There were 828 students enrolled in Dekalb ISD schools in the 2022-23 school year, 5.7% more than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 53.9% of them were boys, and 46.1% were girls.

Data also shows that the majority of students were white, representing 59.5% of the Dekalb ISD total enrollment.

Dekalb ISD roughly covers schools within Bowie County with its main office in Dekalb.

Among the three schools in Dekalb ISD, Dekalb Elementary School recorded the highest enrollment of 321 students in the 2022-23 school year.

The Texas education system is currently torn between public schools and taxpayer-funded private schools.

Critics argue that private schools use funds that should go to the public school system, while private school advocates claim they’re offering better education for more Texas students.
