There were 1,179 students enrolled in Chisum ISD schools in the 2022-23 school year, 3% more than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 50% of them were girls, and 50% were boys.

Data also shows that the majority of students were white, representing 81.3% of the Chisum ISD total enrollment.

Chisum ISD roughly covers schools within Lamar County with its main office in Paris.

Among the three schools in Chisum ISD, Chisum Elementary School recorded the highest enrollment of 593 students in the 2022-23 school year.

Education in Texas is often a hot button issue, especially as test scores lag behind other states.

"The problems commonly cited are flaws in the school financing system, relatively low teacher salary, poor test performance by students... dropouts from traditional schools in favor of charter schools... gun violence, and mental health issues," claimed the Texas Almanac.
