There were two Pacific Islander students enrolled in Liberty-Eylau ISD schools in the 2022-23 school year, 33.3% less than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Data showed that Liberty-Eylau ISD schools welcomed 2,003 students during the 2022-23 school year. Among them, Pacific Islander students comprised 0.1% of the student body to be one of the least represented ethnicities in the district.

Liberty-Eylau ISD roughly covers schools within Bowie County and has a main office in Texarkana.

Liberty-Eylau Middle School was the only school in the district which enrolled Pacific Islander students, welcoming two students in the 2022-23 school year.

The Texas education system is currently torn between public schools and taxpayer-funded private schools.

Critics argue that private schools use funds that should go to the public school system, while private school advocates claim they’re offering better education for more Texas students.
