There were two American Indian students enrolled in Red Lick ISD schools in the 2022-23 school year, the same number as the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Data showed that Red Lick ISD schools welcomed 527 students during the 2022-23 school year. Among them, American Indian students comprised 0.4% of the student body to be one of the least represented ethnicities in the district.

Red Lick ISD roughly covers schools within Bowie County and has a main office in Texarkana.

Red Lick Elementary School was the only school in the district which enrolled American Indian students, welcoming two students in the 2022-23 school year.

Texas is found to be one of the least-educated states in the U.S. A study from WalletHub ranked Texas 41st out of 50 states in terms of the quality of the educational system and how successful students were.

More than 5.4 million students are enrolled in public schools across Texas. Nearly one million of them live in rural areas where options for local public schools are few and far between.
