Hopkins County Education: 23,877 students enrolled in 2023-24 school year

There were 23,877 students enrolled in Hopkins County schools in the 2023-24 school year, 14.6% less than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

At the time, Hopkins County had the 44th largest enrollment in the state.

Data also showed that white students made up 57.6% of the student body, the largest percentage in Hopkins County schools, followed by Hispanic students at 29.8%, Black students at 7%, Asian students at 0.7%, American Indian students at 0.4%, Pacific Islander students at 0.2% and multiracial students at 4.3%.

A recent study by WalletHub classified Texas as one of the least-educated states in the U.S., ranking it 41st out of 50 in educational quality and student outcomes.
