Residents of Titus County are now required to wear masks when inside of any retail establishment after Titus County Judge Brian Lee recently signed an order mandating the requirement.
Texas has been under a stay-at-home executive order since March 31.
At first, KLTV reports Lee's order was misunderstood and people thought they had to wear a mask any time they leave their homes. While wearing a mask at all times is highly recommended by the Centers for Disease Control, that is not the directive from Lee. Lee appeared on "East Texas Now" Monday to clarify that the signed order is specific to retail establishments and is meant for employees and customers.

Even though the number of confirmed cases is quite low, the continued threat of COVID-19 is very real in Titus County.
"I think that COVID-19 is here, in Titus County, to stay for a while," said Lee in a Facebook video on Friday. "I don't expect we're going to have a single week in the next year where we don't have somebody that is confirmed positive with a case of corona."
